Chinese Dim Sum in Chinatown Chicago
66I had such a craving for Chinese Dim Sum every now and then. So, I decided to drive two and half hours to Chicago yesterday to eat! Of course I got together with my mom, my sisters, my brother-in-law, and my nephews. We arrived around 9:30 AM at Shui Wah Chinese Restaurant in Chicago. It is located at the Chinatown Square on Archer Avenue in Chinatown. That is the popular Dim Sum place in Chicago. I think they open at 8:30 AM. If you don’t want to wait long, I suggest that you go there before 9 AM. We had to wait for a few minutes but it was not bad.
We sat down and they gave you an order sheet. We started checking everything on the list! Well, almost did! In some of the bigger places or some of the bigger cities like San Francisco, New York, San Diego, they actually push the carts full of Dim Sum to let you pick out whatever you like instead of ordering from a sheet. If you happen to go to Chicago Chinatown for Dim Sum, you are not sure what to order or expect. Don’t worry, I will show you some of the delicious Dim Sum with pictures so you know what it is when you order.
We ate so much that everyone must have gained a few pounds! I thought I share some of the Dim Sum with you here! Enjoy your Chinese Dim Sum. Here is a link you can visit for more information.

I love that type of food and those pictures look fabulous. I know you each had a great time eating so well.
Now you did it. Instead of relaxing tonight I am off to Shui Wah, LOL.

Tim tim,
I just need to drive 10 minutes for dimsum!
You have got it right with the first 2 photos, Har gao and Siu mai. (The bread and butter of tim sum) The rest are just "commercial alternatives."
By this I mean, they are just very poor alternatives. But I do eat the other varieties as well.
Great hub tim-tim :) The dim sum food looks so delicious, made me hungry :)
My friend, now I am hungry, great hub, fantastic pictures and I have never tasted this before. I must be living under a big rock for sure. Thanks for sharing this great hub with us.
Eating in Chicago is a sport.. there's always something interesting around the corner. Great post!
with all those great choices there in Chi town, it's no wonder! LOL
I wish to go there at this moment... my mouth is suddenly so watery and I carve for dimsum! They are my favorite! Thanks for sharing! =)
Tim-tim...how do I always end up on your page when I am hungry? It is 1:39 a.m. NY time and nothing is open close by and this hub has got me so hungry now. grrrrrrrrrrr
tim-tim. Hi. I absolutely love chinese food, all these photo's are making me wish that we had a take away near by. In Australia we have what is called dim sims, you can have them fried or steamed, either way they are delicious. I am not sure if they are the same as your dim sum. To gather your family together and drive that distance for a meal, must have been wonderful. I have never had cravings that bad. This is a lovely story and the photo's are beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us. That food does look yummy. :) :)
tim-tim your favourite Chinese dishes look mouth-watering. WOW!
Everything looked so good. I love Chinese food and looking at all these wonderful pictures has made me hungry. This was a really great hub.
I love Dim Sum. But lately I have develop some food allergy like gluten. I hope one day a Real-True Chinese Restaurant will serve gluten free and MSG food exclusively. MSG makes me have nose bleeds.
P-I want to go there some time w/ you, just to try this-it looks fab!!
I'm reading this while having my morning coffee and realized it's been far too long since I've had Dim Sum. I have the day off today and a trip to China town would be a great way to pass the afternoon...shopping and eating!
Great idea for a lens. The food looks good. You got me wanting to dine out for a Dim Sum dinner soon; now I'll just need to locate a great restaurant in my region.
Just came back to look at your food again! I wish your Dim Sum place was right here!
Delicious, it made me very hungry. I'll be on the look out for some of those when I'm in the right venue.
your fantastic hubs are like dim sum - they offer a fine array of treats and confections - with impeccable taste and a feast for my palette
Don't you get Prawn Cheung Fun in Chicago? It might be the similar to your vegetable crepe, and is one of the favourites here in London. I can never decide if I prefer the Prawn Cheung Fun more, or the taro croquette.
Could I have some to go please?!
These were fantastic. I am so hungry now.

We used to this in the Philippines, Tim-tim!! Go to a hotel in Manila just to eat dimsum.
From where I used to live, Manila was two hours away..
Glad you had fun with your family.
